Be Wild Saturday Club FAQs

1. Who can come to the Be Wild Saturday Club?

The Be Wild Club is suitable for primary school aged children (4-11 years old) who must be accompanied by a carer (with a maximum of three children per adult).

2. Can I bring under four-year olds or over 11-year-old children?

You may bring younger or older children with a primary school aged child, but please remember activities are aimed at primary aged children, with a maximum of three children per adult. There is no charge for under 4-year olds.

3. How many people can I make a booking for?

Currently we’re only taking individual family bookings for those living in the same household of no more than six individuals.

4. How do I book and pay?

To book please contact us. We will send you a booking form. Once we receive the booking form, we will send an invoice along with instructions for payment to secure your places.

5. How do I amend or cancel my booking?

If it is necessary for you to cancel or amend your booking, please inform us in writing as soon as possible.  Cancellations or amendments will only be in place once we have responded to your request.

6. What activities take place during the session?

In addition to natural play, exploration and outdoor games, children will take part in a range of activities throughout the year in the forest or in our grounds, such as den building, fire lighting, pond dipping, wild art, natural crafts and following trails. Individual activities will be chosen depending on time of year, weather and the children’s interests.

7. What should we bring?

  • Suitable clothing for the time of year

We recommend a waterproof coat and trousers, wellies or walking boots for the majority of the year. We do have a few spare trousers and coats and lots of wellies that can be borrowed from the centre.

  • Food and drinks

You are welcome to bring snacks,  but remember we will be out in the forest lots of the time, without any hand washing facilities available until we return to the site at the end of the session.

8. What time should we arrive?

Please arrive between 9.45 and 10am as the session will begin promptly at 10am. From 10.15am onwards, it is likely that we will be in the forest. If you miss the arrival time unfortunately, we cannot wait for you to start our first activity.

9. Can we stay on site after the session?

Sorry you can't stay on site after the session, as we may have school groups using the site. However if you are looking for somewhere to eat there are a number of cafes and pubs locally, such as: public toilets at High BeachThe Kings Oak Cafe, The Original Tea Hut, The Acorn Tea HutThe Owl Pub. Alternatively, take a picnic into the forest (remembering to take your rubbish home with you).

10. Do you cancel in adverse weather conditions?

The sessions will run regardless of the weather - please make sure that you are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. In high winds we would not use the woodland but have plenty of activities that we can do in our grounds or handling animals in our building.

If the weather makes it difficult to get to our site then a decision may be made to cancel a session, we will contact you at the earliest opportunity and book you onto another session of your choice in lieu.

11. What is the minimum number of people for a booking?

One adult and one child.

12. Is there parking on site?

We have limited on site parking and we have bicycle stands available, and would encourage you to arrive by bike. The forest has many safe traffic free paths on which you can cycle.
