Fun and Cross-curricular

  • Orienteering – whole day
    Work with a partner to discover how to use symbols, scale and a compass to complete an orienteering course in an area of forest adjacent to Suntrap.
    Please ensure that you bring at least two extra responsible adults with each class/group when undertaking this activity to ensure safe supervision.
    Curriculum links: Geography; Geographical skills and fieldwork, Physical education; take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges, PHSE guidance; further develop skills of team working & communication skills 
  • Bushcraft – whole day (April – October only)
    Work in groups to learn the skills of fire making and shelter building. Carry out risk assessments before each activity and have opportunities for self-assessment and reflection during the day.

  • Shelter building – half day option
    Work in groups to plan and build a shelter in the forest in which you could stay overnight using only natural materials. Before beginning to build carry out a risk assessment of the activity and have opportunities for self-assessment and reflection during the day.

  • Team challenges – half day option
    A variety of short, fun activities to challenge and encourage trust, teamwork and social skills. 
    Challenges include; levitate a ball, sinking sands, tire tower, crossing the swamp, low ropes course, ski-whizz and criss-cross ropes.
