Forest Explorer Camps FAQs

1. How many people can I make a booking for?

Currently we’re only taking individual family bookings for those living in the same household of no more than six individuals.

2. When and how do I pay for my booking?

Full payment must be made at least 28 days before your camp. In case of late changes to Coronavirus guidance, we are offering complete flexibility to move bookings for up to 18 months, subject to availability of pods.

3. How do I amend or cancel my booking?

If it is necessary for you to cancel or amend your booking, please inform Suntrap in writing as soon as possible.  Cancellations or amendments will only be in place once Suntrap has responded to your request. 

4. Do you have a camp store?

There is no shop on site.  All food during your residential is included in the charge. 

5. Who do I report problems to outside office hours?

We’ll provide you with an out of hours emergency phone number when you arrive.

6. Is there security on site?

We do not provide 24-hour security. Your pod(s) have a lock. We advise you not to bring any expensive items and if you do bring them please do not leave them on display.  

7. What time should I arrive and depart from the campsite?

Arrival, moving into your pod and packed lunch 12:30-13:30.  
Packed lunch & leave site on day two between 12:30-13:30.

8. How are late check-ins handled?

Arrival is between 12.30-13.30 on day one. If you miss your arrival time unfortunately, we cannot wait for you to start our first activity.

9. If the reception is shut how do, we proceed when we arrive.

We will have a team member at Reception from 12:30 – 13:30.  

10. What is Suntrap’s quiet code of conduct?

We ask that all visitors respect other site users and our neighbours and ensure that noise is kept to a minimum after 22:00. We’re sure being out in the fresh air all day you’ll be sleeping like a log after this time.

11. What time can I access my pod?

Arrival, packed lunch and moving into your accommodation 12:30-13:30. Once you’ve registered between 12:30-13:30 you are free to settle into your pod. 

12. Can we choose our pods or are they assigned to us at check-in?

Your pod will be assigned to you.  

13. Can you guarantee that the site is for families of children with similar ages?

No, however we recommend families choose to book a family-themed activity stay they think is suitable for their children. 

14. Can I leave my car in the camping field?

No there are no car parking facilities on the camping field, however there is limited on- site parking at Suntrap a short walk from your pod.

15. What is Suntrap’s pet policy?  

As much as we love animals, we have a no pet policy.

16. Do the pods have locks on the door?

Yes, you will be provided with a key when you book in.

17. Are there electric sockets in the pods?

No, there are no sockets in the pods. We encourage families to leave their techie gadgets at home. We do have sockets & wi-fi available in the Camping Lodge, so you’ll not be completely cut off!

18. What is the minimum number of people for a booking?

One adult and one child.

19. What is Suntrap’s campfire policy?

There are no individual campfire pits or BBQs unless part of a themed activity.

20. What is the Covid-19 screening process for visitors to the site?

Please do not come to Suntrap if you have Covid-19 symptoms or have been asked to self isolate due to contact with someone with Covid-19. We will offer you an alternative date. On arrival everyone will have their temperature checked. Click here to see further information about covid-19 procedures.

21. What do we need to bring with us?

We ask you to bring your own bedding and pillow, wash kit & towel, torch and appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear. 

22. Can we have a BBQ, or do we have to use the dining room facilities?

No BBQs – all food will be provided.

23. Is there local transport to get to Suntrap?

24. Can I bring a bicycle?  

Yes we have bicycle stands available, and would encourage you to arrive by bike. The forest has many safe traffic free paths on which you can cycle.  

25. Will I be able to get around easily as I have mobility issues?

There are accessible pods available. However please be aware that although our site is accessible once we go out into the forest the ground is very uneven with many trip hazards.

26. Can day visitors join us at the campsite?

No,  Forest Explorer Camps are an exclusive offer.

27. Do you have wi-fi?

Wi-fi is available in the Camping Lodge, but we encourage families to leave gadgets behind at home.

28. Do we have to clean the dining room and bathroom?

No, we have a cleaning team on site. 

30. What happens if I experience symptoms of coronavirus whilst on the campsite?

Please immediately inform the tutor leading the activity (or use the emergency phone number if out of hours) who will give you further instructions. 

31. Can we bring a tent and put up next to our pod?

Please do not bring any additional camping equipment. 

32. What do we do if it rains?

Getting outdoors in all weathers is part of the Suntrap experience!  

33. Will there be a first aider on site 24 hours?

No. However during the activity sessions all Suntrap tutors leading activities have first aid training.
