During the refurbishment the Suntrap team is on tour, out and about, bringing nature nearer!  Come along and say hello at one of the wide variety of events across London.  Share your memories at our library roadshow starting in September.

    Don't forget your packed lunch, plenty of soft drinks and wear suitable clothing for spending the day outdoors.

    For 12-16 year olds living or going to school in Waltham Forest.  A free beginner’s course in carving, come along and spend the day with us round the camp fire and learn how to carve green wood.

    Meet at Highams Park Station, E4 9LA at 10am or make your own way to Mallinson Scout Centre, The Charter Rd, IG8 6RE for 10.15am

    Don't forget your packed lunch, plenty of soft drinks and wear suitable clothing for spending the day outdoors.

  • London Wildlife Festival

    Friday 9 - Sunday 11 August 2019

    Did you know that invertebrates are animals that lack a backbone, such as an insect or a snail and make up 95 % of animal species?  If you want to find out more come and visit our Mission: Invertebrates workshop at the London Wildlife Festival held in Walthamstow Wetlands.  You'll find ways to respect all nature and develop conservation practices.

    Kerry Rolison, Head of Suntrap said ‘We’re looking forward to being part of this event as our ethos is to bring nature nearer in all it’s weird and wonderful shapes or forms. Some invertebrates can get a bad press and we’re keen to dispel misconceptions

  • Bushcraft

    Monday 12 - Tuesday 13 August 2019

    For 12-14 year olds living or going to school in Waltham Forest.  Come and spend a fun two days learning the art of Bushcraft in Epping Forest for free.  You'll get shown  how to light fires, discover wild foods, make food by camp fire and build you very own shelter.

    All you'll need to bring is a packed lunch, plenty of soft drinks and wear suitable clothing for spending the day outdoors.

    Day 1 10.00am - 3.30pm  Meet at Chingford Station 10am, all day outdoors in Epping Forest

    Day 2 10.00am- 3.30pm Meet at Highams Park Station, E4 9LA at 10am or make your own way to Mallinson Scout Centre, The Charter Rd, IG8 6RE for 10.15am

    For 12-16 year olds living or going to school in Waltham Forest.  Spend two days in Epping Forest exploring this natural environment along with the plants & animals living there to produce your own piece of art. Free activities will include; photo scavenger hunt, natural land based art, landscape drawing, animal life drawing & photographic sun printing. You'll have the opportunity to use a range of media including; clay, willow, pastels, charcoal & tissue paper.

    Day 1 10 am to 3:30pm Meet at Chingford Station.  All day out doors in Epping Forest

    Day 2  10am to 3.30pm  Community Room, The View, Rangers Road, E4 7QH

    All you need to bring is your imagination, a packed lunch, plenty of soft drinks and wear suitable clothing for spending the day outdoors!

    Smithfield Market EC1A 9PS Sunday 25 August

    Come along and join Suntrap at a free, family friendly outdoor extravaganza programmed by the Museum of London that will take place in and around Smithfield Market.  The animals of London - past, present, future, exotic and everyday - are in charge of the craziest party in town.  They'll be taking over the Smithfield Rotunda and spaces around it for an unruly street party full of music, games, performances, play and lots of beastly surprises.

  • Swarm Exhibtion, Vestry House Museum E17 9NH

    Saturday 21 September 2019 10am - 12.30pm

    Suntrap on tour will be running a free family workshop at this free Bee exhibition featuring painting, printmaking, textiles, sculpture and installation.

    Try on beekeeping suits, learn about the life of a beekeeper and complete a trail in the garden, chance to extract some honey 

    There could be the chance to buy some honey!

  • Bringing nature nearer! art exhibition

    13 February 2020 - end March 2020

    Our 'Bringing nature nearer' exhibition is open for local artists, professional and amateur, covering all art mediums such as photography, ceramics, drawings and textiles to exhibit your own memories of Epping Forest with a focus on Suntrap Forest Centre. 

    Our ethos is to bring nature nearer and we hope that our exhibition will inspire visitors to get to know our beautiful forest that bit more!

    More information will be provided nearer the time.
