WF Climate Summit

Join us at the first on-line Waltham Forest Climate Summit for schools and colleges running from Monday 8 to Friday 12 November 2021.

A week long programme of speakers, resources and local learning opportunities for inspiring collective action and climate leadership.

This free programme will consist of:

  • Themed days with a relevant action that all students and teachers can do on that day;
  • Live streamed ‘keynote speaker’ assemblies, available as videos following the live session;
  • Wide variety of resources organised by theme and key stage;
  • In-person lessons hosted by local organisations;
  • CPD sessions and other carefully selected informative materials for adults;
  • Pre-bookable free hands on workshops;
  • Ideas for week long or longer term projects which build on the learning and actions from the Summit week.

Theme for each day of the week:

• Healthy Waltham Forest (air/travel/water)

• What's in Fashion? (fashion / consumption / waste)

• The Living Planet ( food / nature )

• Climate Justice (think global, act local)

• Climate Action is…

Please get in touch with poppy.flint@walthamforest.gov.uk to arrange an assembly visit or any questions you may have about the Summit week.

Are you a school that wants to find out more and get support to prepare for the first Waltham Forest Climate Summit?

Our Climate Action Outreach Coordinator is available to attend a teacher or SLT meeting at your school to explain more about the WF Climate Summit and answer questions.

They can discuss how your school could make the most out of this week when climate learning and collective climate action will be the focus of attention across the borough.

Assembly offer

Schools can get their WF Climate Summit activities off to a head start by arranging an assembly which will introduce the themes and actions of the week and get them talking about it with friends and families. The Climate Action Outreach Coordinator can run a tailored whole school, year group or class assembly, or simply give a brief introduction as part of an existing assembly/ lesson.
