This page signposts to whole school programmes, opportunities for students that are keen on taking their climate and sustainability action beyond the classroom and resources for teachers to develop their awareness and skills in this area.

Campaigns that schools and teachers can join

Let’s Go Zero: Campaign for the Government to implement policies and support for schools to be net zero by 2030

UK Schools Sustainability Network (UKSSN) staff branch: As well as supporting students, the regional staff branches act as support networks for educators from various disciplines and school roles to share resources and ideas. 

London National Park City School Network: Network for London's schools/educators, to help all London's children been #greener #healthier #wilder

Campaigns that students can join

For secondary school students supported by a teacher:

UK Schools Sustainability Network (UKSSN): The network brings together students to connect and collaborate on issues they care about. Involvement can provide opportunities to collaborate and participate in influential activities outside of school/ college.

            Note: a cross Waltham Forest UKSSN group is being formed. Support and a link teacher from the participating students schools and colleges will still be required but the lead teacher won't need to attend meetings.

Leadership and Governance

UK Schools Sustainability Network (UKSSN) Operations Group: for school operations staff from any school type, including Chief Operating Officers, Chief Finance Officers, estates managers and bursars. The group meets online once a month for discussion and resource sharing. 

National Governor Association - Greener Governance CampaignNGA's campaign to ensure all schools and trusts have a sustainability strategy and to equip governing boards to play their role in overseeing this work.

Environmental School Funding

Awards for All: Part of the National Lottery money goes to schools that improve health, education and environment in the local community. Funding size £300 - £10,000

Garfield Weston Foundation: Support for education and learning, both within formal school settings and environmental projects.

Mayor's Fund For London: Supporting projects which focus on the Mayoral priorities which include environment and well-being.
