Bursting with culture, energy and opportunity, Waltham Forest is a place people want to live, raise a family and start a business. We are fundamentally changing the way we work and deliver for residents with a huge focus on our environmental impact and delivering our ambition to be net-zero by 2030.

We have an exciting new role for a Climate Action Outreach Coordinator to join our innovative and ambitious Climate Emergency programme. You will be based primarily at Suntrap Forest Centre, in Epping Forest. The Centre has recently undergone a £4.5 million refurbishment and is set to be repositioned as London’s first Climate Action Hub for young people, where we hope to inspire and equip a generation of young change makers.

The Role

As Climate Action Outreach Coordinator you will support the planning, development and delivery of inspiring Climate Action programmes and events for children, young people and schools. You will be required to build proactive relationships with other council officers, schools and teachers, as well as external partners and community organisations, to effectively deliver the education-focused response to the Climate Emergency and ensure a high level of engagement amongst young people.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience of working with schools or young people and planning and delivering high quality, relevant educational programmes and events. You will be passionate about environmental issues and able to demonstrate an up to date knowledge of the Climate Change agenda and how it relates to schools and young people. We are looking for a creative thinker and a confident communicator who understands how to drive engagement with a youth audience in order to make maximum impact.

Our borough

Waltham Forest is one of the greenest and fastest growing areas in the Capital, Council of the Year 2019 and London’s first Borough of Culture. With fantastic connectivity, huge investment potential and limitless ambition Waltham Forest is a great place to live and work.

The borough has excellent transport connections and represents the best of both worlds in London; the City 10 minutes to the South and the Epping Forest 10 minutes to the North. Good schools, great parks, vibrant culture, regeneration and local entrepreneurs make Waltham Forest a community that people want to call home.

Please ensure your application includes your full CV and demonstrates how you meet all aspects of Knowledge, Skills and Experience. More information is available in the Role Profile near the top of the page. You can contact Natalie.kruger@walthamforest.gov.uk with questions.
