The pods in a circle from drone point of view

FAQ's about your child's stay

Where will my child sleep?

In a wooden camping pod with up to three other pupils.  The allocation of pods is at the discretion of the school.

Does my child need to bring bedding?

Yes, please provide a sleeping bag (and pillow). We will provide mattresses to make your child's stay comfortable. More advice on our recommended checklist.

How will the residential be supervised?

All staff are trained in first aid.  Supervision of the children is the responsibility of the school. However our staff are on call throughout the residential (7.00pm – 8.30am off site contact). Please read our Quality and Safety page that provides all our policies and procedures.

Where will my child go to wash and use the toilet?

We have two sets of washrooms each with three showers and toilet facilities in The Lodge a stone’s throw from the circle of pods.

Can my child bring hair straighteners/hairdryer?

There is nowhere to plug them in – don’t forget their hat or scrunchie!

Will my child’s property be safe?

Luggage will be kept in the lockable pods - no midnight feasts as food and drink (excluding water bottles) are not allowed in the pods. We recommend that expensive electronic equipment is not brought but this decision is at the discretion of the school. Our centre is not liable for loss of property.

Will my child mix with other groups on site?

Our residential facilities are used by one school at any one time, so students will not be sharing any residential with any other school.

What will my child get to eat and drink?

We will provide all meals and snacks after lunch on day 1.  Please provide a healthy pack lunch for the first meal in a back pack. Don’t forget their water bottle! There’ll be a choice of food provided at mealtimes which will be both healthy and filling. Dietary and food allergy requirements can be catered for.  Please ensure that you notify your school for your child's needs.

Read more here about our catering.

Will my child be encouraged to help?

All the pupils will be encouraged to join in and help with jobs such as washing and drying up, clearing the tables and sweeping the floor and not forgetting keeping their own pods tidy.

What does my child need to bring?

We have compiled a recommended checklist.

What if my child has a medical condition?

Please ensure that your school has been notified and provided with the medication. All our staff are first aid trained.  Visit our Quality and Health procedures and policies for more information.

We pride ourselves on our inclusive approach to teaching.  Our facilities are accessible and we have an all-terrain wheelchair to use in the forest.

How will my child benefit from coming to stay?

Outdoor learning is invaluable and brings life-long memories and skills that they will carry into adulthood. Our activities are cross-curricular and of course fun!
